Memories

Story Review by Jahsiah

Memories by Anna Kenna

This story is about Sophie’s Memories about her Mum and her pony. She remembered the day that her Mum was on her feet and some of the things she did for the family.

This story takes place in Sophie’s Room and outside her house.
The characters in the story are Mum, Dad, the Pony, and Sophie.
The problem in this story was that Sophie was agitated because
her mum told her to do something and she didn't want to do it.
I liked this story because it was an interesting but sad  because Sophie didn't get time to do things with her mum as she used to when her mum was not in a wheel chair.

GIL Presentations

GIL Presentations on Transport

On Wednesday, Fraser, Moses, Melanite, Karl and I did  our presentations on our Guided Inquiry Learning on Transport.
My two transports were Rickshaws and Donkeys. The best one was probably Rickshaws. Donkeys sounded weird because the second question which was “Who invented it” sounded really funny.

But anyway I had a really great time presenting my work with Fraser, Karl, Mele, and Moses.

Donkeys Used As Transport

Introduction
In term 3 I had been learning about different types of transport. I had 5 main questions on transport  that I wanted answers for. These questions were:
1.Who invented the
2.When was it made?
3.Why was it made?
4.How has it changed over time?
5.What is it made of?

Who invented it
God created all creatures of the universe. I know from the bible about the story of creation. The donkey was created to carry people and goods. It is a strong animal.

Information
Donkeys are really fast they have a good memory. Donkeys don't like being kept on their own although a single  Donkey will live quite happily with goats.Donkeys are really rare.

More Information
1.Donkeys are often fielded with horses due to the calming effect they have on nervous horses.
2.If a donkey is introduced to a mare and foal, the foal will often turn to the donkey for support after its mother.

Interesting Facts
1. Donkeys are used by people for carrying people and goods.
2.The wealth of the Egyptians was due to the precious metals carried from Africa by donkeys.
3. Donkeys were used to carry silk from the Pacific Ocean to
the Mediterranean in return for trade goods.

Interesting Facts about Donkeys
1. In Greece donkeys were used for working on the narrow paths between vines and their work in vineyards spread as far as Spain. 2.The donkey was associated with the Syrian God of Wine, Dionysus.Wine, Dionysus.

Facts about Donkeys
1.Donkeys can live for over 50 years donkeys are really strong and intelligent.
2.A donkey is stronger than a horse of the same size.
3.Donkeys have a really good memory they can recognize areas and other donkeys.

Information about Donkeys
1.The Roman Army moved donkeys into Northern Europe using them in agriculture, vineyards and as pack animals.
2. Donkeys are used as guard animals for cattle, sheep and goats.

                     Conclusion
I learnt a lot about donkeys and how they have been used as transport vehicles from ancient to modern times in different countries of the world. In future, if oil and gas run out, I think people will revert to using donkeys, camels and horses to travel and to transport goods.

The biggest muscle in our body is called Gluteus Maximus and it is the  muscle we sit on.The smallest muscle is called Stapedius and the smallest muscle is deep inside our ear. Room 9's Trip to the Stardome

Room 9’s Trip to the Stardome

On Thursday, the 9th of May, the Senior School went to the Stardome to learn about space travel.

We went to Stardome on a bus with Rooms 5 and 8.
When we got to Stardome the first thing we did was watch a movie on travel in outer space.

We had to look up at the big screen inside the Stardome. After that we  looked around for an hour. Then all the classes went to the planet room and the Educator talked to us about the Sun, the Moon and the Earth.

After a while, it was time for us to come back to school. We got onto the bus and came back to school. We all played games on the bus while we headed back to school.
